Congratulations Carroll Academy Class of 2014!
Graduating is no small feat; especially when you are an adult learner. There is the added pressure of the ‘grown up’ lifestyle: jobs, finances, kids, health, and those are just a few of thing things that most adults deal with. Even if you take only a class here or there, spread out over time, it is still difficult! Adult learners have such strength and motivation to finish the classes they need and graduate.
Carroll Academy just celebrated the graduation of the Class of 2014; twenty adult learners finishing their high school careers. It was a great ceremony in which Judy Woodward, from White Mountain Community College, and also the WorkReadyNH Coordinator, spoke about not letting circumstances define you and accepting things as they are.
As a member of the graduating class, I can tell you it’s not easy. I have had a difficult road to get me to where I am now, but Carroll Academy was amazing. I had a principal who took the time to help me figure out what classes I had left to receive my diploma; the best teacher ever who encouraged me every step of the way, and who I now have a great bond with; and also classmates who worked just as hard as I have that I was so proud to graduate with. We not only worked together but supported and helped each other along the way.
It takes a tremendous amount of willpower and determination to go to school as an adult, and even more to actually graduate. George Washington said it best, “Perseverance and spirit have done wonders in all ages.” Congratulations Class of 2014! Wishing you all the best of luck and happiness as you move on into the future, and the continuing motivation to reach your dreams!
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
